George Hebert was WWII and Korean Conflict veteran and a significant figure in the history of education in Lafourche Parish. He served as an educator for many years and became principal of the Larose Elementary School in the mid 50s. In 1960, he became principal of Larose Cut-Off High School.

When South Lafourche High School was established in 1966, he was appointed it's first principal, serving from 1966 to 1984. He led the school during its formative years, overseeing its growth in enrollment and curriculum offerings. He earned BS, M Ed and +30 degrees from LSU. Mr. Hebert passed away in November 2004.

Dr. Roland Thomassie is an Air Force Veteran and earned BS and M Ed degrees from Nicholls State and a Phd from Ole Miss. He began his teaching career at Larose Cut-Off High School. He transitioned to South Lafourche High School in 1966 and taught French and Latin until 1978. He became the Talented and Gifted (TAG) Advisor from 1978 to 1981 and Assistant Principal from 1981 to 1984. Dr. Thomassie became the second SL Principal from 1984 to his retirement in 1989. 

Lloyd J. Guidry, Sr. is a graduate of Golden Meadow High School, earned his BS from LSU, a M Ed in Administration & Supervision and a +30 Language Specialist from Nicholls State University. He taught foreign languages, history and civics at GMHS from 1956 to 1966. Mr. Guidry transitioned to SLHS in 1966 and taught foreign languages until 1981. He was the TAG Coordinator from 1981 to 1985, Assistant Principal from 1985 to 1988 and promoted to Principal from 1988 to his retirement in 1995. Mr. Guidry passed away in November 2025.

Louis Plaisance is a graduate of Larose Cut-Off High School and earned his BS and M Ed degrees from Nicholls State University. He was a Biology teacher at South Lafourche from 1969 to 1990. He also taught Taxidermy, a class he created! For many years, he was the coach  of the Prep Quiz Bowl team and the PA Announcer at the home football games. Mr. Plaisance was promoted to Assistant Principal from 1990 to 1996 and Principal from 1996 to his retirement in 2001.

Mary Gautreaux Curole is a 1974 graduate of SLHS and earned her BA and M Ed from Nicholls State University. She was a Mathematics teacher and librarian from 1977 to 1996. She was promoted to Assistant Principal in 1966 to 2001 and Principal from 2001 to 2009.

Aubrey "Bubba" Orgeron is a 1988 graduate of SLHS. He was a Biology and Environmental Science teacher from1996 to 2002.He served as Assistant Principal from 2006 to 2008 and as Principal from 2009 to 2012.

Gaye Cheramie is a 1981 graduate of SLHS. She was Principal from 2012 to 2022.

Samantha Lagarde was Principal from 2022 to 2024

Alison Pere' Chiasson is a 1987 graduate of Central Lafourche High School and earned a B.S. in Education in 1991 from LSU, a M Ed in 1995 and a Leadership / Principal Certification in 2007 from Nicholls State University. From 2000 - 2005, she was Curriculum Facilitator for Lafourche Parish schools. Her classroom instruction, from 1992 - 2013 includes Raceland Upper Elementary, Larose Upper Elementary, and Larose Cut-Off Middle School. She was Assistant Principal at SLHS from 2015 to 2024 and promoted to SL Principal in 2024 to current day.
